Question How change OS5_Config.py for decrease fan speed?
Posted by: remittor - 30-12-2018, 05:19 PM - Forum: Q&A - Replies (2)

I want to reduce fan speeds.
I have already patched the file OS5_Config.py.
Original fan speed for N2810:

adjust_fan_pattern = {
'IT8616': {

'Fan_Duty': {'1': '0x72', '2': '0x40', '3': '0x15'}},

The problem is that this file is inside the SqFS image (read-only compressed file system).

How can hack this hardcoded global settings?

  Graylog 2 or upcoming 3
Posted by: Killerjoe - 19-12-2018, 05:03 PM - Forum: Module Request - No Replies

Hi outkastm,

would it be possible to make a module for graylog or an equal syslog server for the Thecus NAS?
Graylog is Open Source and can be found here https://www.graylog.org/
Current version is Graylog 2 but a Graylog 3 Alpha is also available but the release of v3 will take some more time it seems.

Thank you for your great work!

Zabbix is the ultimate enterprise-level software designed for monitoring availability and performance of IT infrastructure components. Zabbix is open source and comes at no cost
With Zabbix it is possible to gather virtually limitless types of data from the network. High performance real-time monitoring means that tens of thousands of servers, virtual machines and network devices can be monitored simultaneously. Along with storing the data, visualization features are available (overviews, maps, graphs, screens, etc), as well as very flexible ways of analyzing the data for the purpose of alerting.

Zabbix offers great performance for data gathering and can be scaled to very large environments. Distributed monitoring options are available with the use of Zabbix proxies. Zabbix comes with a web-based interface, secure user authentication and a flexible user permission schema. Polling and trapping is supported, with native high performance agents gathering data from virtually any popular operating system; agent-less monitoring methods are available as well.
Web monitoring as well as monitoring of VMware virtual machines is possible with Zabbix. Zabbix can automatically discover network servers and devices, as well as perform low-level discovery with methods of automatically assigning performance and availability checks to discovered entities.

Why Choose Zabbix

There are many reasons to choose the Zabbix solution over its competitors. The best way to make sure it is the #1 choice for your organization is to give it a try. Before you start though, consider the following benefits of using Zabbix:

Download Zabbix Product Brochure

  • Zabbix offers the freedom of using an open-source solution with no vendor lock-in and freely accessible source code. This includes not only Zabbix itself, but also required components (Linux, Apache, MySQL/PostgreSQL, PHP)

  • Zabbix setup and configuration is quite easy ensuring a low learning curve and therefore low cost of ownership

  • Highly efficient Zabbix agents for UNIX and Windows (x32, x64, Itanium) based platforms provide wider monitoring capabilities with greater speed

  • A centralized monitoring system allows to store all information (configuration and performance data) in a relational database for easier processing and re-use of data

  • Rich visualization capabilities allow to work with your data faster and smarter

  • Built-in housekeeping procedures allow to keep your data well organized

  Iperf 2 and 3
Posted by: Killerjoe - 26-11-2018, 07:09 PM - Forum: Module Request - Replies (3)

Hi outkastm,

it would be cool, if you can add modules for iperf 2 and iperf 3 for the N5550 OS7 64 bit NAS.
Here is the link to the tool https://iperf.fr/iperf-download.php

There is an older iperf 2 module available but that is not working with the current NAS OS.
Here is the link to the old module: http://www.positiv-it.fr/thecus/download....0_x64.rar

Thank you very much for your work!

How To manually remove a module in SSH
Posted by: outkastm - 25-11-2018, 08:12 PM - Forum: Tutorials - Replies (3)

where $modulename is the name of module

Log in SSH and type
Run this command to see a list with modules name

ls -h /raid/data/module

See the module name you want to remove and replace in the following command.
By this command, $modulename string is assigned to the module name to be replaced

Run this command to be sure the $modulename string is assigne correctly, to avoid deleting the wrong files
echo $modulename

If the $modulename is assigned correctly, run the following commands and don't change anything on them to avoid deleting the wrong files
/raid/data/module/cfg/module.rc/$modulename.rc stop
rm -rf "/raid/data/module/cfg/module.rc/$modulename.rc"
rm -rf "/raid/data/module/$modulename"
rm -f "/img/htdocs/module/$modulename"
/opt/bin/sqlite /raid/data/module/cfg/module.db "delete from module where name = '$modulename'"
/opt/bin/sqlite /raid/data/module/cfg/module.db "delete from mod where module = '$modulename'"

after that your module is uninstall and is not any more on the Webui list, better is to reboot NAS to be sure to clean process list
